Cooking Meat
I have no appetite due to a new medication I'm on, and a strange side effect of this seems to be I've lost all inspiration for what to cook. Right now I'm living off of salads and sweets, and have no appetite for meats/proteins at all. My nutritionist is yelling at me, but I'm really at a loss. So, you guys seem like a carnivorous lot; what are some of your favorite meat recipes? How do you get protein in your diet?

Have you considered non-meat sources for protein? Or at least non red-meat? Fish, eggs, dairy, lentils, chickpeas, nuts, fortified cereals, tofu and soy products - all of these can help you increase your protein intake and might be more palatable. Also, since you don't have a hearty appetite, many of these things are good as snacks so you can work them into your diet in bits instead of a whole meal. HTH!

I've been snacking on the non-animal varieties, and that's helping me keep up my strength, but I'm still hoping to incorporate meat back into my diet. I feel bad for my poor husband, because he's been having to deal with a definite lack of meat in our meal plans recently. Though I did make venison burgers the other night (burger for him, burger-topping sandwich for me).
Tofu is a bad idea for me, because all my favorite preparations involve frying and/or a deliciously unhealthy sauce. (read: Chinese food) I'm more hoping to get some good meat recipes that sort of hide or improve the taste, as this side effect doesn't seem to be going away..four months and counting.
What I wouldn't give to still enjoy a rare steak..

Aha, ok I see. Well, do you like/tolerate spicy foods? If so, I find that highly seasoned foods - especially hot and spicy - often masks the meat flavor. Curry seasoning/sauce does that too and doesn't have to be hot/spicy if you can't take the heat. Personally, I find lean, non-game cuts are the least meaty tasting to begin with. So, I might veer away from strong tasting venison and go for bell pepper stuffed with lean ground meat that is mixed with rice and tomato sauce. KWIM? I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Yum, I hadn't even thought of curry. Spicy foods have always settled my stomach, strangely enough. I should break out the indian spices and give that a shot.
Yeah, I knew venison was probably going to be a stretch. But it was in the freezer and I didn't feel like going to the store, so that's what laziness gets me!

Omelets can have meat added to them and the eggs are already a protein. Beans with cheese are a complete protein. That can be a side dish with nachos which can have meat added to them. There's loads of ways to get protein into a diet.
If your husband is lacking meat, then grill him a steak or let him grill his own. That should settle his carnivorous cravings for awhile. There isn't anything that requires you both to eat the same food.

You might try focusing sweet tasting meat dishes, they may be more appetizing to you. Also try dishes with meat cut into small peices rather than large cuts or steaks

I don't know about meat, but when my roommate was on chemo and lost her appetite, baking fresh bread for her really did the trick. It smells so good, and you can put butter and preserves on it, or peanut butter, and kind of spark your appetite.
On another note, if nothing else works to get your appetite going, there's always a little doobie on the side to get you hungry. Assuming of course that you're not morally opposed to that.
