My mom salts her watermelon and it totally freaks me out! I fuss at her every time, but she insists it 'enhances' the flavor! I tell her I think her taste buds are dead. LOL HAHAHAHAHA and of course, she just laughs at me and tells me I have NOOOOO idea what I'm missing!

Years ago, a friend turned me on to putting salt on watermelon. And I loved it!
Haven't had it like that in awhile but it was tasty.

I grew up in the tropics where there are a lot of different types of berries. I would salt nearly all of them. Pineapple is one I definitely eat with salt...I love the contrasting tartness of the pineapple and the salt.

I saw my dad salt watermelon when I was a kid and was horrified.
I've tried it with a little kosher salt and it is not bad, I love kosher salt because it has a milder flavor than regular salt. Just a few grains will do. Most of us get way too much salt anyway.
