The audit team packed up and left around 4 this afternoon, and there is a faint possibility that I may have survived another fiscal year end. The tax team is due in on Monday, but after the financial team, that's a piece of cake. I'll still be in the office this weekend working on the UNICAP calculations, but after the past ten days, it'll be nothing more than digging up data and plugging numbers, which is easy-peasy. It's futzy and tedious, but there's no stress involved, which makes it perfect for what's left of my brain at this point.
Spouse fixed a celebratory supper of grilled yellowfin tuna with parsleyed red potatoes (from the CSA box) and a salad composed of Roma tomatoes from the garden and cukes and basil from the CSA box. Oh, and then there was the wine, which was much needed and most welcome. I'm not generally bibulous in nature, but I was ready to make an exception this evening.

Turtlemom, CSA stands for Consumer Supported Agriculture, which is a pretty big program in our part of the country. You basically buy a "share" of the harvest from a local farm, and every week or two, you get a case that includes whatever they harvested that week. The CSA group in our area (here: MACSAC Home) numbers nearly three dozen farms, each with its own set of offerings and its own season.
It's not a guaranteed payback; you essentially buy a stake in the farmer's fortune that year, for good or for ill. That means that in good years, you share in the bumper crop that comes in from the fields, but in years when the farmer is dealt a 100-year flood, you share in the reduced return on investment.
But for those of us for whom it is important that as much of our food dollar as possible winds up in the pockets of those who actually produce it, a CSA program is a really good solution. We shop the Farmers' Market each week as well, but much of our vegetables come from our CSA box.

finally got around to that pizza I've been putting off~ crust in a cake pan~ layer of sauce, layer of pepperoni, layer of peppers, onions, broccoli, layer of cheese, layer of sauce, layer of ham and pineapple, layer of mushrooms, onions, peppers, layer of cheese, layer of sause, layer of browned hamburger, layer of eery other veggie I can think of, 2 more layers of cheese~ after its about an inch and a half to two inches thick it goes into oven for about 45 minutes. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before attmpting to slice. Serving of this deep dish pizza 2x3 inches will fill anyone and spoil you for that stuff that most places call pizza! Was taght to do this by a young sailor from Chicago while I was in service and can no longer stand Pizza Hut!
Baked pork chops, baked beans, sweet peas, field peas and snaps, mashed potatoes, salad.
