Mojo is a marinade - I have been converted from all the others descriptions, and it really is great!

Mojo is so good..........I marinate chicken in it It is made by Goya ( I hate that name).
I use the one that has a little kick to it (red but can't think of the name). They also have a Mojo Criollo which I don't really care for.

They are a tiny tiny pea. I have seen them in cans in the grocery store or in restaurants advertised as white acres. NONONONONO! Those taste like chalk! Yuk!

The true ones are not white. They are more green with some white. Comparable to a cream40 but about 1/3 the size. My favorite pea!

I first learned about Mojo, when I lived in Miami. All my Cuban neighbors marinated pork in it

Here's a homemade version from allrecipes. My neighbors used "sour oranges" in their version

  • 6 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup minced yellow onion
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™) (optional)
  • 1 cup olive
DIRECTIONS

  1. Pulse the garlic and onion in a blender until very finely chopped. Pour in orange juice, lime juice; season with cumin, oregano, lemon-pepper, black pepper, salt, cilantro, and hot pepper sauce. Blend until thoroughly incorporated. Pour in the olive oil, and blend until smooth.
