I will only eat my own as I know what's in it and tha is hot and hasn't sat out somewhere. My sis-in-law makes one that is truly disgusting-both looking and tasting.
The ONLY thing I liked about being forced to go to church in my youth were the weekly pot luck suppers. Then, as now, I enjoyed the hell out of trying servings of everyone's family specialty, which were usually some kind of casserole. That's where I learned about "hamburger hot dish" and "tater tot hot dish" from some Minnesota immigrants to the West.
The religion thing didn't stick, but my love of casseroles and pot luck suppers is stronger than ever.
Loaded baked potato casserole? Creamy mac and cheese topped with panko and bacon? Rice and broccoli? Squash and cheddar with sauteed onion? Turkey tetrazinni? With bacon? And more cheese? And onion? And bacon?
How can you not love casseroles?!
My favorite is an arborio rice, cream of mushroom soup, and leftover prime rib with broccoli casserole that happens after Christmas. Sooo tasty.
Then again, I have to feed my husband, so I love being able to just scoop him up lunch after letting himself gorge himself at dinner. I make enough for four, but really..he eats most of it. I'm a sucker for cream of mushroom soup though..
