Hi all, I recently bought one of these for camping and small portion grilling. Any good or bad reviews from users? Thanks

We had a similar model when I was growing up. Works just like the stand-up one you just need to make sure you keep an eye on it since it will most likely be sitting on a picnic table or on the ground where someone could trip over it.
I have had a Little Smoky Joe for about 20 years, it's a good grill, excellent for 2 people.
Tom does make a good point that you don't want to leave it where someone will trip over it, particularly if in a park or similar.
Instead of using commercial charcoal we usually use small pieces of fruit wood (apple, cherry, etc.) from our usual fire wood. I did this one time when I ran out of charcoal and never went back, but will say this does not make as long-lasting coals as commercial charcoal.
We use ours all the time - perfect for a couple/four hot dogs, a few sausages, a few burgers - when we're only cooking enough for one meal it's perfect. We just put it on our patio table (wrought iron). Otherwise it lives on our deck kind of in the corner in the shadow of the two big kettle grills so it takes up basically NO space.
We use it to "tailgate". At home, we have Weber 18" and 22" grills, based on the "Smokey Joe" design.
I think it's the other way around. The Weber kettle is the original and the SJ came later. Actually I was watching a documentary on the Weber grill the other day and the kettle was designed in the 50's and made from a marine bouy. The classic Weber in it's current design has been around since 1956.
