if they are organic, i generally leave the peel on. if not, i always peel them. the pesticides actually go all the way through them, plus they put stuff on the potatoes to inhibit sprouting when they go into storage.

When I do make potatoes- No-do not peel them-scrub them really well.
But when I'm lazy which has been quite a lot I use Ore Ida Steam and Fresh. It's because I'm too busy here here on CD.

Like most before me, it depends. For example, this evening we had Chicken Fried Steak, Gravy and mashed potatoes. I bought the quicky mashed potatoes, added our special ingredients & nuked 'em. I peel boiled potatoes and bakers when used in casseroles or salad. I guess the only time I don't peel is when they're served in the jacket.

I don't even have a potato peeler. Oh, wait, yes I do---I use it for grating cheese, since I don't have a cheese grater.

I never peel red potatoes.
I only peel for mashed if it is the holidays and we have company.

hahaha. this memory just hit me. (thanks!) Once upon a time, after a GREAT meal, my son told me to nuy that "brand" of instant mashed potatoes, again.....upon being told they were "real, peeled potatoes", he checked the garbage, to see if there were peels.....I thought my Mother in law was going to ROFL!!
One fall, I was a "professional" potato harvester, riding the equipment, as a tractor & digger pulled the potatoes from the earth. I stood/rode by a link belt, and was supposed to remove the rotten spuds & rocks, before they webt into the trailer/wagon.........1983.

Sometimes I peel the potatoes and sometimes I cook them with the peelings. Now if there red potatoes I cut some of the peeling away and pour melted butter with parsley over them.
