Default Stove top coffee makers

Don't know if I'm posting this in the right place. The only good thing going for me i.e my GE coffee maker all of a sudden took its last breath. I had only used it for a month. Yeah.....I tried running the clean cycle and everything. The plate is just not heating.

Anyways, I saw this stove top aluminum coffee maker at my grocery store for only $9.99. Are they any good? I just started a new job and am still 10 days away from getting paid. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a coffee maker and then have to replace it after a few months.

Is it the kind where you have a cone-shape on top, and then another inverted cone-shape on the bottom? IMHO they are not that great, but serviceable. We have one, but only used it when we were desperate. It's been sitting on a shelf unused for years.
You could do okay with it, but if you went to Target you might find a decent French press coffeemaker for the same price or maybe just a bit more.
The Aeropress is about $25, but makes superb espresso grade coffee.

Since it only worked for a month, can you return it for another one since it appears to be defective.

It was a housewarming gift that was given to me in KS before I moved to NY. I don't have the reciept and I don't know where it was purchased from. I don't have the heart to tell the person who gave it to me that it stopped working. I'm just going to have to bite the bullet on this one.
