I just got 6 bagels from Dunkin Donuts, I want to keep them soft for a while.

Freeze them and take them out as needed. If you can't wait to defrost them, pop them in the microwave for a few seconds or, if you're toasting them, split them before freezing and then toast them frozen.

If you don't want to freeze them, I usually keep them in a brown paper bag, rolled closed, and then tuck that loosely into a plastic grocery shopping bag. Then leave the whole thing on the counter and take a bagel out as needed. They'll be good for 4-6 days that way without molding or getting too hard.

I've done both of the above suggestions depending on how fast I plan on eating them.

Thanks

I dont have a toaster, nor do I have a microwave. So I guess the oven will do.

Freeze them then take them out individually the night before you're going to eat them.

We buy ours in bulk so I do this every night, and they keep perfectly fresh.

actually if you want to keep them soft, you will need to keep them in a plastic (like ziplock) bag---not a paper bag.

"Oh Lord, won't you buy me a bagel right now.
My friends all eat Texas Toast
But I've taken a vow

Worked hard all my lifetime
But Zabar's calls to me
Gimme' a barrel of bagels on my aniversary."

Oops, I left them in the freezer in a paper bag.
