I am trying to think of what to have tonight-it was going be be fettucine with prosciutto,peas,basil,garlic-but it's fall weather here and my mind's wandering to "warmer comfort" food. Ah the dilema of being chief cook and bottle washer.

Hey girls (Crazyworld and Lacey) so nice of you both to open your kitchens for us. I'm making dessert to bring to friends for dinner tonight, (well, let's say I'm thinking about it) if I do I'll make extra and drop off at your kitchen so you all can enjoy tonight

Haven't been cooking much so I've not even been on what's for dinner thread. I hope I remember this one is here now

Okay-question for you all-nice big breakfasts on the weekend, do you like to make them at home or go out? What's your fave?

Me-I will if we have company-put the spread out but for just Mr. L and I-it's out. And my fave is eggs benedict.
Lacey, Mr. BB and I love to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast!! We always try to get there before 10am because they stop serving oatmeal at 10am and I can't start my day without a bowl of yummy oatmeal!! On the days that we don't go out for breakfast, I eat the same thing each day.....2 hardboiled eggwhites, 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1/2 apple!!

Yesterday our weather was really crummy and it made me crave 'comfort' food....so I made a shrimp and potato soup and served it in bread bowls....YUMMY!!! Unfortunately the wonderful 'tangerine pie' dessert that I made was a total bust! It never firmed up, so I trashed it!! There were so many tangerine pie recipes when I googled, and I definitely picked the WRONG ONE!! But I'm not giving up......I'll try again next week!

Still thinking about what to fix for tonight.....the sun is finally shining and it's nice and warm out - maybe we'll grill up some burgers!!

Good morning! Thought I'd pop in real quick before I get my rear in gear.....<opens cupboard, grabs coffeecup, pours a cup of coffee and sits down at the kitchen table> I need to bring a dessert to dinner tonight...thinking about brownies...easy to transport and most people like them.....At some point this weekend I need a reason to use my new toy.....yep, I got my new Kitchenaid mixer yesterday. It has been calling me but I haven't had a chance to taker her for a test spin yet....

oooh! Soup. I love soup. Even though it's been a cool summer here, I haven't really made soup....I will start doing some of that soon and freezing in single servings for fall and winter lunches....My aunt told me she freezes soup in Ziplock freezer bags laid out on a cookie sheet. That way they are flat and easily stored...I had never thought of it that way but I will do that this year.

I did a pot of soup this week. It started out because our London Broil had come out like shoe leather after marinating it in a southwestern marinade which I don't usually do and then way overcooked on the grill so it was salvaged into a pot of beef/vegetable soup and that southwestern flavor sure tasted good in the soup.. Just cranked the AC's a little higher when we ate it.

For the first time, that I can remember, I just called my daughter, to seek info, on cooking! She was telling me about bacon wrapping chicken tenders and grilling. I think I *made* her day! Hopefully, the chicken defrosts, in time to cook, for lunch.
