New talent? But I've had that talent for years!

DH might say that to me actually, because one of our marriage agreements was "I don't do floors!"

"Is this your new talent?" That hardly even makes sense, and is definitely not clever. I think I would probably just stare at the person blankly, then continue mopping without any further sign that I had heard them speak.

Is anybody wondering what the tone of voice was, and the previous rapport between the two people? and what this issue has to do with food?

I may be offended briefly, but then I would realize that person is a jacka** who is trying to belittle another person in order to feel better about themselves...I'd get over it quickly enough.

I work in the service industry (hotel desk clerk) and people treat me badly sometimes and talk to me like I'm an imbecile (even though I go to one of the best schools in the state and am doing this to help me get through). I even had someone call me a loser and ask me if I ever want to kill myself because I have to work at the kind of job I do. WTF? I'm thankful I HAVE a job here in MI. I used to get upset but now I let it just roll off my shoulders. I've finally realized that other people and their stupid comments are not worth my energy-I determine my self-worth by my standards.

You have to consider the source. Anyone who would say that to someone doesn't have a clue about anything in life. They aren't worthy of a response, just ignore them.

I would think the OP is reading too much into it.

Maybe it was an clumsy way of starting a conversation. You're only 16. dont let stuff bug you so much.
