all but the milk.......une cerveza por favor..........
Where do you get green chili?
I can't believe I forgot the cerveza
The green chilies I used today were from a farmers market, and I roasted them at home. When fresh chilies aren't in season I cheat and use the canned ones. (if your grocery store doesn't sell the big cans, you can usually find them at a restaurant supply store)
Here's the recipe:
3 lbs pork shoulder
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground oregano
1/2 tablespoon coarse black pepper
2 cups chicken broth
2 lbs fresh green chilies, roasted and peeled
2-3 jalapenos, roasted and peeled
1/4 cup corn starch
Cut pork in 1 inch cubes.
Put pork in saucepot; simmer, uncovered, until meat is tender.
Add all ingredients except corn starch.
Mix well.
Bring to boil; reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1-2 hours.
Stir occasionally.
Before serving, mix corn starch with water and then stir into chili to thicken it.
hey, i have a stupid ? where do you get green pork ? is it the same if i use food coloring ?
You can use the food coloring if you like, but its better if you just let the pork sit out on the counter for a few weeks until it turns green on its own.
