Does anyone else here remember when Jack in the Box used to put "secret sauce" on their burgers?

I guess they stopped about 20 years ago (I don't know why). But I really used to love it as a kid. I used to try to make my own (usually by mixing ketchup and mustard), or other ingredients around the house. But I could never get it to taste just right.

But I think I have discovered it. It's simply...FRENCH salad dressing.

The funny thing is, I used to love French dressing as a kid. But I guess my mom never kept it around the house much. So I had to use household ingredients (like ketchup and mustard).

I must say I'm still amazed (and very pleased) by this discovery.

By the way, I was watching a guy on television with a recipe for homemade Big Macs. He replicaded the secret sauce on Big Macs by using mayonnaise, French dressing, and pickle relish.

I recall it fondly and wish they still used it, but I thought it was more like a 1000 island type of concoction.

Have you been to this site?
I found myself here years ago when my kids wanted Orange Juliuses at home.

I also thought it was a 1000 Island dressing. Much like In n Out's "secret sauce". I can make it at home and we love it. I don't recall the exact measurements but these are the indredients:
Mayo
Ketchup
Vinager
Pickle Relish (we use dill)
Salt - dash of
Pepper - dash of

Mix it up and refrigerate for a few hours for best results.

Hmmmm... according to that site, "Ketchup bumped Jack's signature special sauce from the burger in 1999, but due to guests' demands, special sauce is still available on request."

I'll have to ask next time I'm there.

Yup, you can still get it by request, comes in little packs like ketchup now. I always ask for some. The copycat recipe seems to list the ingredients that are on the little package. I seem to remember coming across a recipe that was more an actual recipe and that turned out decent in the past. Now that I live in Jack land again, I don't need recipes, I got the real stuff!

Anybody know how to easily make the sauce at Zaxby's (Zax sauce)? I love the stuff, but it's hard to really pinpoint where most of the flavor comes from.

The ingredients are here, but I still wouldn't know where to start.

I thought secret sauce was banished about the same time they stop allowing you to place your order in the clowns mouth. I loved bonus jacks as a kid because it was our special Friday night threat.

I love that website and while I don't cook I do keep recipes from it for when I finally decide to. I do wish I could get my hands on Ruby Tuesdays Guacamole Ranch dressing.
