Here's a conversion for slow, medium, fast oven temps:
Online Conversion - Oven Temperatures

Slow or "cool" in the 200°s F
Moderate in the 300°s
Fast or hot in the 400°s

Here's one for a whole host of things.

My oldest is 1942, the American woman's cook book, it was my Grandma's!!

I will have to investigate it further.

i love old cookbooks! especially the illustrations.

has anyone ever seen the "gallery of regrettable food"? it's all really hilarious illustrations from old cookbooks. i think most of them are from old editions of the women's day encyclopedia of cookery, if i remember correctly. the guy who made it has published the pictures and his comments in a book, so most of them aren't online, but there's a selection here: LILEKS (James) Gallery of Regrettable Food

his site is worth browsing around, there's some interesting stuff there.
