Plus side: the motor is awesome. It has never given me any trouble. It's heavy too, so you can set it down and not worry about it wandering. Very simple 1 button design; push down to pulse, up for on.
Negative side: The chute mechanism is totally stupid. Check out this picture. The plastic tabs at the bottom of the sleeve are only about 1 cm across, and if they break (they will eventually) the safety mechanism won't engage. A new one will set you back $30 or so. That's not the only poor design feature of the chute. The unit pictured is actually 2 pieces, but they don't come completely apart. When you grate cheese little balls of it will get in between the pieces and it's difficult to get it out.
It is also possible to put the work bowl on the base backwards - very poor design, it should not be possible to do this. The machine won't work if you do this, but it would have been relatively easy to make it impossible to get this wrong.
Despite the excellent motor, I would very carefully check the way the bowl and chute work if I'm ever in the market for a new machine, and would not get this model.
We have Cuisinart, I have the small version which is really handy. The Cuisinart DLC-10S is a small food processor that can hold up to seven cups. It is powerful enough to knead bread dough with ease and is very easy to use and clean up. I don't know what your budget, but I think it's worthwhile to save your pennies and shop for a good deal on a well rated Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart. I have a Cuisinart DLC-5. I have used it for all types of applications, even kneading bread dough. It's nice and compact and everything fits in the dishwasher except I wash the blade by hand for safety reasons.
