Honestly? I'm thinking of what kind of cake I want to get myself for my birthday. Something small definitely...probably won't "make" the cake, just buy it already made.

With our family it's pretty much the same meal every year: turkey and ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, various other vegetables, rolls and cranberry sauce and lots and lots and lots of desserts - pies, cheesecake, cake, cookies, fudge. It's a food orgy that I make no excuses for.

I'm a purist at Thanksgiving. Although I wouldn't mind experimenting, I would get a lot of flak if I did. I hope that two of 4 kids and their families will be coming, but don't know yet.
Turkey- stuffed with Pepperage Farm stuffing with celery, onion and sage- mashed potatoes, gravy, butternut squash, sweet potaotes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, creamed onions, gelatin salad, rolls, pumpkin and apple pie, and some kind of cake..probably chocolate.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving!!! I think stuffing is my favorite part. I cubed potato bread and honey whole wheat, toast it up and toss w/ granny smith apples, sage sausage, celery, onions, garlic, dried cranberries, butter, turkey stock, and LOTS of fresh herbs w/ an emphasis on sage. Mmmmmmm!

I used to stuff the turkey w/ the stuffing, but DH is so paranoid about that I make it in a dish now. Not as good imo, but still great.

Used to be one of my favorite holidays (when I was back home with my family). But nowadays, I don't celebrate it as much anymore. I'll be glad when it's over with.

But Christmas, I love. We always get invited to the company Christmas dinner and we have fun with our friends (my soon to be husband and I).

Yesterday I noticed the markets have their freezers full of turkeys. I guess it's time to buy one. I really enjoy Thanksgiving even though I'm the only one who does the cooking.

I've decided I'm going to brine my turkey again this year. I did it last year for the first time and the difference is quite noticeable...very juicy and moist.

I don't make a lot of dishes to go with it as there are only the 4 of us since I've moved to TX. The menu will be:

Turkey stuffed with herbs
Stuffing (cooked outside the bird)
Gravy
Mashed Potatoes
Green bean casserole (made with fresh green beans and sauce--no canned cream soup)
Cranberry sauce
Apple pie (none of us like pumpkin)
Yeast rolls

If I were still in Arkansas there would be at least 20 of us for Thanksgiving.
