Some miso soups are made with chickpeas - it's just like a less-greasy chicken broth, so you can put anything in it you'd like.

Raw, fresh (meaning trucked in from somewhere) edamame tastes kind of like peanuts to me. Snap peas are a heck of lot better tasting imo, and a heck of a lot cheaper!

Score on the sweet pickle sammiches.

Braunschweiger. I was raised on the stuff from early on. My dear old grandmother loved to spread it on crackers and I learned to eat it that way. I don't eat it anymore as I have gout and it is on the list of "to avoids"

I'll add:

Any kind of Russian food (I grew up on it-most people who are not Russian turn their noses up at it and never want to even try it)
Liverwurst
Turnips/Rutabags
Celery Root (it's awesome mixed in with mashed potatoes)
Hummous
Tabbouleh
Falafel with lots of Tahini

I love purple cabbage (I refuse to call it red). I think it must be the vegetable that Rapunzel's mom wanted so badly.

I like raw potatos with salt and pepper.
I also like spinach and greens.

Lentil soup with ham hocks is a comfort food for me. My mother would make it in a crockpot on weekends that I came home from college for a visit. I'd eat that and sleep the rest of the weekend except for the times I got up to eat more lentils. It's called "daal" in Pakistan and India. Those are usually the only folks I know who like it as much as I do. They don't put ham in it though.

I like it raw, but cooked, especially in stew with potatoes looks real unappetizing.
