I've got a Mr coffee. Mine brews up a pot a coffee. I guess you could make less if you wanted. I've been using the mr coffee brand for years. it's not expensive and you can find it in a lot of stores.

Bunn. They're a little more expensive, but they last for years if you run a little vinegar through them occassionally.
Plus, there's this: They are about the ONLY coffee maker still built in America and contain the highest number of parts made here than any other major brand.
Have some good coffee and support American workers while you're at it.

Great! Thanks to you all!
Great! Thanks for your input! I appreciate it as I start to look. We are currently borrowing a coffee maker from my father-in-law. BTW, what does "DH" stand for? I know it's referring to husband, but...? Also, "DS" and "IMO"? I'm new at this. Thanks!

I’m very happy with our Hamilton Beach Ensemble model #43254 12 cup coffee maker. We liked it so much we bought another one should the first ever breakdown. However we’ve had it for years now and never have any trouble. I noticed they were on sale someplace for just $29.95 (maybe at Target). And yes I’ll drink one to one and a half pots of this stuff in a day, so it gets a workout.
DH dear husband
DW dear wife
MIL mother-in-law
DS dear sister (maybe)?
DA dumb ???

This is the one I have.
I noticed with the ones I got at Walmart they would last a few months and then die.
This one was a little more spendy, but so far has lasted almost a year without any problems.

I love my Keurig, but this just started happening with ours. We use extra bold French Roast coffee and have started doing the 1st run through with the 9oz. setting and then using the same K-cup to run it again on the smallest setting. It makes a nice big mug of coffee that is just right!

ds = dear son
I've been looking at the Keurig, but what's holding me back is the cup sizes. My favorite mug is 10 oz. While I could brew an 8 oz and add creamer, I've read reviews that the 8 oz setting makes the coffee super strong. I prefer a mild brew. Thoughts from current owners?

My Cuisinart has been good. Got to be about 10 yrs old now....needs to be replaced..it brews fine but it turns itself off after about 1/2 hr. Probably paid $60 for it (on sale, with coupon etc). I feel I got my money's worth. Just bought my mom a Keurig....she seems to like it. We go through a pot every day though so a one-cup brewer isn't too practical for us.

RE: The Keurig
It seems to me that the larger the cup setting would mean a weaker brew. You are putting more water through the K-cup than with the small cup setting. I believe the largest cup setting on our unit is 9 oz.
I would just try some different types of coffee to find the the one that is right for you. We got a sampler of different coffees that came with the brewer which is how we settled on the Extra Bold French Roast. You can also get a K-cup that is reusable with your own ground coffee.
With my Mr. Coffee machine I was always either wasting coffee or wanting more...never just the right amount.

+1 for Mr. Coffee on dependability, durability and best bang for the buck. I've overpaid for plenty of short-lived "high-end" drip & perc. coffee makers in the past and Mr. Coffee is still working after 14+ yrs.
