Last time I used someone I think they said you needed to order a cake depending how many ppl would be served . I paid 55 dollars for a cake for a christmas party last year . I took it to work . some ppl thought I paid too much . I can only say what I did so you can take it from there .

Individually made cakes cost more.
At a bakery they are mass produced and can have "custom trim"
If a cake is made from scratch with REAL ingredients pay what they want if that is what you want.
Otherwise just go to a bakery where you have been satisfied before.

I ain't bought one in a while. I did buy one for my son's 21st birthday a few years ago but it was just one they had on hand and I had them put his name and happy birthday on it.

I don't like the cakes with fondant myself.

As others have stated having a custom cake vs a ready made cake can sometimes make a difference.

Depends on the details and how large the cake is.

I don't like fondant.. If you could see the decorator at the Kroger Bakery in Jefferson, Georgia roll it out with her grimy hands you would not order one..The price of birthday cakes there are 17.99 for a quarter sheet cake.. which is not baked there, just decorated.. The cake comes in frozen and all the bread is frozen product from Canada.. I guess the United States has so much work that they need to import things!

I'd say $30-50 is reasonable. If you're going to pay any less, you might as well not pay at all!

I would say $25. I only like fondant for the creation of things to add to a cake (sheet of music, guitar, figurines, etc.) and not to eat as the main icing on a cake. Of course, I am a buttercream fan. I might go more if there was a big design but with your description I would have to say no more than $25. Have fun at your party!
