guess the prices went down for a bit and then back up. Paid $35 in 2011, $50 for 35 lbs at Costco this year. Already told the wife that we are using the oven
Never buy that stuff during the holidays they always raise the price. January and June are a really good times to stock up for next year.
Well we used to fry our turkey until my uncle set fire to the garage one year and after that my aunt said no more fried turkey and guess what my brother did last year . he got this idea from a friend , he put the turkey in the sink and was cleaning it and i saw this look come on his face and i knew he was up to something . He went and got a cornish game hen and put it inside the turkey LOL , he then called my aunt into the kitchen and said hey aunt lora i think this was a pregnant turkey and pulled out the cornish game hen and aunt Lora started crying and picked up the phone to call butterball and ask them why they slaughtered a pregnant turkey LOL !! well my brother fessed up right then and there and everytime someone mentions deep frying turkey and or cook turkey period these memories come back to me and make me laugh . Yep oil sure has gone up for frying turkey .

That was one reason we got rid of our turkey fryer. We loved the way it cooked things and the speed, but I can roast my turkey just fine and for a heck of a lot less.
You can buy fried turkeys at the deli. Albertsons is doing a special. Probably cheaper by far...and easier......than doing it yourself.
Some Popete's restaurants offer fried turkeys.
