I am so glad you mentioned this! I hadn't thought about spritz cookies in forever...my mom used to make them, but I never have. Just went on Amazon and ordered a cookie press. I'm so excited!

Pierogi's. I wish I could make homemade ones like my mom did. I can never get the dough thin enough. Whenever I carmelize the onions in butter for the peirogi's I think of Christmas Eve from my childhood.

Our family has begun having a side dish of baked sweet potatoes. They taste great and are very healthy. As for the main dish, for us it's usually a beef roast with a brown meat gravy. If the weather is right we may have gumbo instead. Chicken and sausage gumbo on a cold winter day is fantastic.

We don't do anything "ethnic" for Christmas, we're too American-ized. Do some families have a Christmas tradition for serving ethnic foods? About as ethnic we'll get is a Russian guest that will be here for dinner. Last year she did bring an awesome dessert for dinner, I think it was Russian. Some kind of rolled, creamy filled pastry with chocolate sauce. I think she used a Pizzele maker.
Every year I serve something different for dinner, last year it was a glazed ham. This year I'm considering prime rib.
