I always drink with my meal, and this causes me to get full faster, eat less.

I don't generally drink during meals. To me, "hot & spicy" is a flavor--not something to be "washed away" with a drink. Besides--if something is "too hot" for one's palate, usually only a fat-laden drink like milk will take away the capsaicin "burn". Not any regular beverage.

The only time my habit of not drinking during meals is a problem is especially when having a degustation with wine pairings. I have to remind myself to taste the wine with the appropriate courses. But then again, I don't truly consider wine a "drink"--it's part of the dining process .

Interesting...I definitely drink while eating but usually something neutral in flavor like water (not soda), though sometimes iced tea since I don't want to interfere with the flavor of the food. Sometimes the food is soooo good that I don't want to dilute the flavor by drinking! ...but that is the exception.

I believe I've heard that some cultures/countries think it is unhealthy to drink while eating...maybe the Dutch?

And of course you're supposed to use your napkin before drinking so you don't leave yucky food smudges on your glass...

I drink as I go along...and 9 times out of 10, it's water.

I'd like to full up faster and eat less of my meal without having added calories from my drink...so, I drink water as I eat .

I never drink while I eat. To me, drinks interfere with the flavor of the food.

My husband goes through 2 refills and 3 drinks while we eat. My first glass stays full.

He knows its time to sit and wait for me to drink and cleanse the palate after I'm finally done eating. Poor guy.

The only bad thing that I have heard about drinking while eating is that the liquid that you drink gets in the way of the juices in your stomach that digest food and therefore you get less nutrients out of your food when you drink while eating. Just what I heard. But I drink milk every meal while I am eating.

I drink beverages during, throughout the meal/food. It helps moisten the food, for more effective & efficient intake/swallowing. YMMV.

But I've known people who had hard & fast rule about not drinking anything until after all their food had been consumed.
I'd never realized that there were people who did it that way-it seemed peculiar to my mind (what I'm used to), but...
We all have our quirks and preferences-what feels right or best to one person may not be that way for somebody else.

I drink during my meal, otherwise I seem to get a dry throat. I usually drink either water or soft drink.
