Here's a great story about introducing hummus to a friend of ours who's not a very adventurous eater. I was trying to explain hummus - I told him it was a combination of things like chick peas, olive oil and tahini. He just stared at me like I was talking Greek. My husband looked at his bewilderment and said "Dude, it's a bean dip"! His face brightened and he said "OK!" and proceeded to eat it and like it. So...don't think of it as hummus, think of it as a bean dip!
Awesome.
You can also make a black-bean "hummus". It's great on pita chips OR corn chips. Serve with a little salsa and sour cream. Yum!
Hummus is good. I have never tried pita chips though, and never seen them in the stores. I'm guessing Earthfare would definetly have them though.
Warning- they are habit forming. And if you like hummus, I can't think of anything that goes better with hummus than pita chips. Okay, maybe, hummus, pita chips and wine......
For our Thanksgiving appetizer, I made spinach and artichoke dip, and served it with Trader Joe's pita chips and veggies. I think any kind of creamy dip goes well with pita chips.
I agree! I went to make spinach dip a couple months ago... but then got really lazy in the process of making it and just heated up some spinach and queso. Voila! Spinach Con Queso Dip! =)

Okay, those pita chips sound killer. Brand name? Who sells them? I want them!
Trust me, they are killer. I'm going to pick up some more tomorrow. I got them at Trader Joe's; they're sold under one of their brand names. I'll ask who makes 'em though....
PS: They're a new product @ the TJ's here.
