How much $ for a pepper? (orange, green pepper, cooking, juice)

Paid $1.25 for a yellow pepper today. There's a store here that sells them for .75 too.

I like the Green Bell peppers when they are priced right or in season here in San Diego Calif.

On wed bought 8 at 4/$1 and gave half to a friend/neighbor.

When they are in season I will do the stuffing thing with ground beef and rice 50/50.

I am retired in Baja Mexico and have to return across on Mon and will check to see if the mkt chain still has them...if so will buy a few to cook up and place into the freezer. At that price it's a winner for sure.

Did buy some pork strips which I cut into small stew pieces for potatos and veggies (paprikash) that came out real good so have two meals in the freezer. I substitute the pork pieces for the beef which is higher in price.

I am going to try the pork (cut very small) with rice in the Bell peppers for a change.

Yes...I do cook the meat well and use 5 min rice as per instructions.

Add all the spices of choice...couple slices of onion diced...mix with the meat and cooked rice...fill the pepper...top with catsup or tomato paste and place inside micro dish filled with 2/3 water...covered with saran wrap and cook at high for 20 mins.

I had two for dinner and placed the remaining two into the freezer for another day.

I just found red and yellow at $1 each, and I think the green were around .79 each...either coming down a little or it was one of the those come-ons to get in the store

Grannyroost, when you are down on the Kenai would you be paying over $2 for a green bell pepper & over $3 for red or yellow?!

The first winter there, in 2007, I found them at 3-Bears for pretty much .79 or so each for the green, and for some ridiculous reason the reds for quite a while were about the same price as the green. In 2008, they went up to almost $2, and the red and yellows were probably near the $3 mark. Peppers were always on my list, but at that point I quit buying them, or when found them cheaper I would freeze.

For a package of 3-4 bell peppers, I pay $1. I buy them at the 99c store, and they usually have all colors (orange, red, yellow, and green).

They also sell the mini bell pepper medley in a plastic clamshell box for $1. I like to buy those too because I can't always use an entire bell pepper for a recipe and the little ones work out better in those cases.

WOW!! A lot of you are getting a lot cheaper bell peppers than I am.

Just checked the fridge, my green bell pepper is $1.99/lb, with the one I have costing $1.23. That's just for ONE pepper.
