i always thought of dirty rice AS a side. why not try serving them in a green or red bell pepper? and put it in the oven until the pepper gets soft (but not mushy)....plus cheese on top sounds really good!
or maybe use dirty rice as taco filler and just add your normal taco toppings.
now im hungry..hahah. i know those arent really "sides"...but i guess it gives it a bit more flavor, color, and texture.
but i think any kind of vegetable would be a good side....grilled bell peppers or zucchini, pico de galo and lime on a bed of lettuce.
I'd stick to a theme and make cornbread and collard or turnip greens (or even spinach) with a little bacon or ham. Frozen is good if fresh is too much trouble, both are better than canned.
It's not REAL dirty rice, but it's got ground beef and rice w/ seasonings.
I'd like to make 2-3 side dishes to go with it to fill us up. Any suggestions?
what about just getting the bag of vegs with all included and serve it?
egg plant I do like also, or the salad deal to do as you like? Or soup
would be good! french bread , with the soup? corn or creamed corn would also work! frozen or fresh string beans! Sausage also would work! to add
hot or mild ones! with french bread! I do say when ill with a cold I did go back to Campbells having done the other brand! this one old favorite tomato with rice won me over when ill! I still did pick up some more today! I do think when ill Cambells will be my favorite!

I know it's often served as a side, but if you think about it, it's no different from spaghetti (starch) with meat sauce (protein). I've always found it to be very filling, so on the rare occasions I make it, I just add a salad to the side.
Whenever we make dirty rice, we just cook a bunch of keilbasa and throw it on top. Have a side of steamed veggies and it's a good meal.
We substitute ground beef with ground turkey/chicken and beef kielbasa with turkey kielbasa. We're not big fans of beef
