Brings back memories. Jake's Tavern, Clarion IA, if it is still there, close second.

Sausage, onion, and -- I can't believe nobody else has mentioned it yet -- pesto!

Well thats one spot we missed. Never eaten there. Our favorite spot was Garlex in San Ramon. Yum Yum! It was many years ago on a date there with my now wife I learned that the little jar of condiments sitting on the table is chili peppers, not bacon bits.

Pepperoni, sausage (hot), mushrooms, and broccoli. Maybe just not all at once.

And sauce. Lots of sauce. It seems most pizza these days comes with too much cheese, and not enough sauce!

I have to be in the mood, but I also like Hawaiian pizza with ham and pineapple.

Texas is not known for their pizza but I could get both black and green olives on my pizza there, that was really good.

I have been eating mostly whole wheat grains and have been wanting to start making my own things like pizza dough...I would like to make a spinach alfredo pizza with mushrooms. Thing of the wonderful combos you could come up with if you were making your own.

I also really like a 3 cheese marinara, imagine how nice that would be rather then normal sauce on a pizza.

I like pepperoni and sausage on a thin crust pizza.

I've also had Papa John's chicken Alfredo pizza a couple of times when I had coupons. Different, but it was pretty good!

I thought it was disgusting, but the egg baked on the pizza is good. There was a little port city in Sicily called Catalina. A small restaurant along the waters edge. The little Italian women insisted the American troops eat at her restaurant for free. She brought out all these different pizzas (mind you with very, very little tomato sauce) and half of them had a baked egg on top!

Very different. But the taste was very good.

The funny thing... I went back to Catalina with some family friends some ten years later. And to my surprise, the restaurant was still there. And working behind the counter, kneading the pizza dough, was the little old woman who greeted the troops so many years ago. Unfortunately, she developed Alzhiemer's. Her daughter was there and she remembered the story. I tear up everytime I think of the little woman of Catalina.

So, whenever I think of pizza, I think of the runny egg on the pizza and the little old lady and her restaurant.

That, or straight pepperoni.
The best pizza I have ever eaten is Monical's in Illinois. I never thought I would like a thin crust pizza, but their's was fabulous.

OMG...what monical's did you go to.....they must have been the exception. I live in central Illinois and have eaten at many many Monicals and in my opinion they are not good at all! I want to try the one you ate at.....to compare it to the others that are ick.
