Cutting down on bacon, myself. But frying/baking and freezing a bunch at a time is something I never considered. Also microwaving.

I like pre-packaged but every now and then you want the kind that isn't already cooked. There's a sort of crispiness and juiciness about it that you won't find with pre-cooked.
Sometimes I can't get the regular bacon cooked just right in the microwave (and I hate cooking bacon in a skillet) so it's nice to know I can't really overcook the pre-cooked bacon. [Sure I can but I'd have to cook it for over 90 seconds]

I'm afraid of what they did to bacon to make it shelf-stable. It doesn't even need refrigeration, does it?

Bacon by any other name is still bacon
the precooked bacon in the stores has been around for 20 years, ocar mayer is one of the best....I like them all-tho I think they are a bit overcooked,,,but think they have to be ,,,to be un-refrigerated

I haven't tried it, but I bet someone on here has by now. The thread is about 3 years old. The reason I haven't tried it? The price, plus we try to stay away from prepared foods as much as possible.
