So my brothers wedding is Saturday and there will be 70 to 80 people. Im in charge of dessert. There is the wedding cake that will feed 86 people (Im not baking it someone else is.) So Im baking an apple cheesecake that serves 12, Im making 50 cupcakes ( half are vanilla with chocolate frosting and the other half are chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting), and Im making 72 cookies ( half are fudge with chocolate chips and half are regular chocolate chip). Is that too much dessert, is it enough, or is it enough dessert? Thanks if you can advise me. I have never baked for such a large crowd. Oh and Im baking from scratch.

I'm of the opinion there is no such thing as too much dessert. If I had to drop one item, it would be the cupcakes. There's already the rich cake for the cake eaters, and cookies and cheesecake for everyone else. The cupcakes are redundant, IMHO.

You said you are baking, but does it have to be baked goods?

I'd make something with fruit, to offer those who don't want to eat so much sweet and heavy things...

Instead of cupcakes you could make pastry shells with glazed fruit, a glazed fruit flan, or even half-dipped chocolated strawberries etc, or fruit kababs...

I did want to do chocolate dipped strawberries, but I thought they were out of season. The pastry shells with glazed fruit or glazed fruit flan sounds good though. Thanks! Well I decided to not do cookies after all. I already bought the supplies to make cupcakes though.
