I only use plastic cups and I don't ever plan on stopping. They're the greatest.
I can see it now - "Poor old rainroosty, he didn't deserve to die this way"....."I know....if only he hadn't been drinking out of those plastic cups." Yeah, right.
I prefer glass to plastic. But I have some plastic wine classes that have stems that unscrew that I use when we are traveling. I've read of the toxins in plastic, but who really knows what will eventually kill you and what won't? None of us are going to live forever, and who would want to?
Why not just buy a reusable, stainless steel Sigg bottle? I have one and recently got one for my husband, who claimed he'd never use it. Well, now it's his favorite bottle. They are dishwasher safe and contain no toxins. And, they keep your water very cold, which is a plus in the hotter months. They also have a wide mouth, so it's like drinking from a glass rather than a bottle.
Glass is better than plastic, but not very portable.
MAK802--I have friends that use the Sigg--and have thought about it myself.
I think I will change to a glass--there's no reason I have to use the plastic except that "it's there"--and it's bigger I suppose than a regular drinking glass.
I don't worry too much about leaching toxins in a plastic cup I just poured water into. Plastic water bottles that have sat in a warehouse for who knows how long is another story. For transportable water we have both BPA free Nalgene bottles and stainless. Not a fan of the stainless mouth-feel though...Overall, I prefer glass though.
Is it better to drink from a glass glass than a plastic cup (not the throw away kind the meant to be put in the dishwasher reusable kind)?
I have been reading all about plastic leaching into the water and am wondering if perhaps a real glass is the way to go?
For clarity of taste I always prefer glass especially cold drinks. Plastic has it's place for cold drinks but I don't like plastic for hot drinks since if a plastic is going to leach it will leach when holding very hot liquid.
Most people need to think more about what they put into the cup, more than the cup itself.
