It is a trigger for migraines for me if I have too much. It took me a year or two to realize it. But it's certainly the common denominator each time.

There is a big difference between MSG naturally occuring IN foods, and adding it to them.

People DO actually have bad reactions to added MSG, it is not made up or all in their head. I once had temporary facial paralysis that I happened from all the MSG added at a Chinese restaurant I'd never been to before - never had it before or since.

What is this big difference you speak of? It is the same organic compound, either way you have something you're eating that contains MSG that your body can easily metabolize.

According to FDA the a typical serving of a food with added MSG contains less than 0.5 grams of MSG.

I haven't used accent for years, yes, partly because of the MSG scare but mainly I just never think of it. Maybe I will go back to it for a change. Of course I use so many spices, I probably don't need to use it.

Many Thai dishes are made with MSG. I used to put Accent on my salad when I was a child and stopped when my mom told me that it was bad. I live by "eat in moderation" and I happen to love Pad Kee Maow which is made with MSG.

Try Bragg's Amino. It tastes almost exactly like soy sauce, salty but with NO sodium! You can find it in the organic area of the grocery store in a bottle that looks like soy sauce, but with a yellow label. It's just amino acids and enhances the flavor of almost anything.
