CHICAGO, April 14 (UPI) -- A Delanco, N.J., woman Wednesday walked off with $1 million and a new oven as the first prize winner of the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off.

Sue Compton's Mini Ice Cream Cookie Cups bested 100 other offerings in the contest, sponsored by General Mills, General Electric, The Hershey Co. the J.M. Smucker Co., Eggland's Best, Land O'Lakes Inc. and Fisher Nuts.

That's crazy. She used pre-packaged cookie dough for the recipe, it wasn't even homemade. Only in America!

It was the Pillsbury Bake-off ... entrants have to use Pillsbury ingredients. That way people will see the recipe and go buy Pillsbury stuff.

I looked at the other finalists' recipes, and have to say those salmon tarts look better than the winning recipe. Maybe some of us Food forum regulars can come up with a recipe for the next bake-off? I've read some mighty clever ideas here over the years!

I thought that the winning recipe did not deserve to win at all. I have seen quite a few similar recipes online, so I don't credit her for originality and its just not really appealing to me....only in America is right!
