If you use your blender on a regular basis, which it sounds like you do, invest !
Blenders are worth evey cent for a commercial one. Blenders tend to burn out quickly, and if your smelling rubber, its time for a new one.
One important fact, make sure that it is put together properly, and all the attatchments are very tight. Make sure it is on the base properly before you turn it on. Loose components tend to make a blender burn out faster.
As a bartender in a past life, I have seen alot of blenders burn out quickly(usually do to carelessness or poor quality).
I haven't shopped for a blender in quite some time. I currently have an Osterizer. It has worked wonderfully for a few years now. I make Rum Runners for parties and it has seen quite a few parties. We also make milkshakes on a regular basis.
IMO I would try to get a commercial one if used on an everyday basis. Although I have seen bartenders go thru 3 a night :0 !
Good Luck !
