OK, so I recently saw a commercial for a new Stride gum. Aside from the fact that it is probably the most insipid commercial running on television, it left me quite perplexed. See, the "flavor" of the gum starts out as some sort of berry. They don't really say what kind of berry, just some sort of ambiguous berry flavor I guess. But then as you chew it, eventually the flavor changes from berry to mint.
Now I ask, why in the great wide-open hell would I want my gum to change from berry flavor to mint flavor? If I want my gum to change flavors, I'll spit it out and start a new one. Is there really some sort of necessity or appeal that I'm just not getting here? I mean -- why???
I bought a pack it was absolutely disgusting. Even one of my dogs who loves gum spit it out. The berry flavor tastes like cough syrup and the mint flavor tastes like anything but mint.
it cant be worse than Violet candy or gum they had in the "old" days, and i remember about 15 years ago it came back! i couldn't eat them! it tasted like i was eating perfume! at least "berry" flavor is actually something i would eat.

Omg-you're bringing back memories. Not sure if it was the '60's or '70's but I agree it was nasty.

I don't know what's wrong with simple flavor sugar gum, but the gum manufacturers seem to think so. Now gum is a toxic blend of different sweeteners, weird flavor mixes and assorted other chemicals.
