I do both savory cooking and baking. My favorites include:
-Stainless steel mesh strainer
-Food processor
-Multiple sizes of ice cream scoops (dishers)
-Mixer (I'm going to upgrade to a KitchenAid)
-If a win the lottery, I'm buying a double blade Agbay cake leveler (see video). It costs more than the Kitchenaid.

I just purchased this apple peeler. It is the niftiest thing and looks like a little toy. It peels an apple in literally a few seconds and comes with a slicer/corer. It is made by Starfrit, and you can buy it on Amazon for $16. Nothing like sliced apples with peanut butter!
I LOVE kitchen gadgets, but recently bought the Powerpressure XL Pro....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!
The crockpot and 10 hour work days are NOT compatable (food cooks too long, even on low) but with this I can have dinner ready in less than 45 min from start to serving! The cheap cuts of meat and chicken are so tender in it. Love the fact I can sautee, cook and serve out of ONE pot too! So far have made beans, chicken dishes, roast, brisket, ribs and soup, chowder...I have found it MOST easy and fast to cook and clean in.

I am with you on 1-4 and my #1 are Japanese knives followed by silicone spatulas/thongs.
If you have a SO with a work shop - anything that might be convertible to a cake leveler?
I got a 5.5 quart Le Crueset French oven for my birthday a few years ago. I love it. I don't know how I lived without it.
I'm with you. That thing changed my life! Close runner up: a beautiful wooden spatula with a notched handle that fits perfectly over the edge of my Dutch oven, followed by a Cuisinart immersion blender, which is really the only gadgety thing in my kitchen.
I like the can opener that cuts from the side rather than the top.
1. cleaner neater no rough edges
2. I can reuse the lid to cover it, and put the can in the fridge for future use.
3. It does not take more than one pass to open the can.
