Thanks to all. I am now pretty sure my truck is just a 3-door extended cab. It appears that my truck was too early to be one of the standard cabs with the extra doors. Still not sure why the step bar salesman interjected such confusion into the discussion unless he just didn't know.
Crew Chief. If it was an F111 instead of an F150, I could tell you which model it was.
Anyone ever hear of a 1997 Ford F150 "regular cab" with a 3rd door? I am trying to purchase step bars for my new-used F150 with a half-sized suicide 3rd door on the passenger side and one guy is telling me to make sure I actually have a supercab (extended cab) because some regular cabs in those years had a suicide 3rd door. I thought that in 1997 there were only regular cabs with 2 full-sized doors, the supercab (or extended cab) with 2 full-sized and 1 or 2 half-sized suicide doors and the crew cabs with 4 full-sized doors. Anyone here familiar with these trucks?
I sold F150s for 17 yrs from 1994 to 2012 and tis they did make a reg cab with a third done no seat behind the front seat. Only made them for a few years,

Nope that's the extra cab. The half door gives it away.
The only regular cab with suicide doors was from 2008-2010 (or somewhere along those lines). It actually was a regular cab with no rear seat, but two suicide doors to allow access to the fairly large space behind the seats. I drove one in my sales rep job.
In 1997 the only options were regular or extended cab trucks. The supercrew wasn't offered until 2001.

I had a 99 F150 that had a door on the passenger side that opened like a suicide door. They must have been out before you started your sales job.
Did it have a fold down seat or was it just a blank space?
It was just more floor space, no seat. It was nice to open the extra door to put stuff into the back with. I worked field service driving around so it was useful.

Was it an extended cab, or a regular cab? Unless you bought some prototype that I've never heard of I don't recall Ford ever offering the regular cab with the suicide doors before 2008. I can't find any data online about it. Do you have a picture? I'd be curious to see one.

I don't have a pic sorry. It was definitely a 99 because I was living in Vegas when I had it. I got out of the navy in 99 and moved there. In 2008 I owned a Lightning so I know what ford F150's are lol
I just did a google image search for 1999 F150 and it came up with many of them. I didn't realize it was a "supercab" I didn't have a backseat but I bought it was a work truck so I didn't want it. I don't know if it was an option or what. I found it used with not many miles. some pictures show the driver side also open but I don't remember mine opening on that side, though it may have. Its been a while since I had that one and only had it a year.
