So we've been having a problem with our SUV in warm weather/hard use situations. If we are driving in high heat or on difficult roads, steep climbs, the gas pedal becomes unresponsive, the oil gauge goes crazy and it quickly stalls. If we let it cool it will eventually drive again fine. It started as a once in a while thing but has become a regular event. We live in colorado so driving in heat and up steep mountain roads is kind of a regular thing for us. To date the "mechanic" has replaced radiator and associated parts, random filters, manifold gasket (?). Each time we take it in they swear they have found the problem then the next time we drive the car it happens again. We've put about $1200 into this and the suv is getting worse. We are obviously going to try a new mechanic but just wanted to see if this problem was familiar to anyone.
did u ever figure out what the problem was with your ford explorer? i have the same problem and i also live in colorado. only does it when its hot?
