Have a 2011 F Exp with a manual 3rd row folding strap system. For some reason, even while following the instructions sticker on the seat ( which as a guy, I usually don't ask for directions or follow instructions), I'm having trouble getting the 3rd row to fold flat into the floor. Maybe I'm not coordinating the sequence properly of the straps but I'm definitely following the instructions.
Anyone else have this issue? Solution?

Have you figured it out? The same system is in the Freestyle, Taurus X (which I own), and Flex. IIRC, you pull them in number order, #1 to fold the seat back forward then #2 to flip the seat into the well. With the Explorer, I think you have to fold the headrest before pulling the first strap--I think there's a release on the headrest. Unlike in the competing Dodge Durango, this doesn't happen automatically.

Seems like a good reason to buy the power rear folding seats!
