I had 2 1995 YJ's and a 1999 TJ.

All 3 were built like tanks and loved the snow.

I do miss them and one day I will get another one.

Do you have snow tires? That should be the first thing you get.

And I simply put two 40 pound bags of rock salt in my trunk. Works perfectly. The car might fishtail a little at times when going up a steep snow covered hill, but I've never gotten stuck with this set.

500 pounds is complete overkill. Maybe for a pickup truck it's ok, but a truck has most of it's weight at the front. A car's weight is more even distributed.

A car weights 3000+ lbs. Adding 100 will hardly worsen the suspension.

Put in at least 300lb or don't waste your time. 150lb over each wheel.

If the suspension is already clunking, then yes, every bit of weight will aggravate the situation. You need to at least determine what the problem is, if not repair it, before you dump hundreds of pounds on it.
