theres really is no comparison here, its the Taurus by a mile!

and given your somewhat troubled history with your current GM car; why would you choose another GM vehicle?

I agree, but most research Ive done shows the 2012 Impala to be very reliable. Im surprised I am having problems with my G6 because most people said they had no problems with the GXP models, but maybe now that the car is 4 yrs old, that GM quality is starting to come out.

Im waiting for them to become 1 yr old and get one since depreciation is so steep in the 1rst yr of a New car, so a $18-20K car is much better than a $31K car.

The Impala has 24K and is $13.7K
The Taurus has 50K and is $13.9K

So my guess is they are former rentals.

I owned a 06 Impala w/3.9L in the past, but im not sure if the 2012 with the 3.6L has a different suspension or any better features and I have sat in the Taurus which seems huge on the outside but not very big on the inside.

I plan to test drive these next week, so has anyone driven both of these cars and would recommend one over the other?

Well, i broke down today and got a 2012 Impala LTZ with 29K for $13,100. The Taurus were running for $15-18 and just not worth it. Its was like pulling teeth to get a decent trade value on my 09 G6GXP. They offered $5000 and i said hell no and we went back and forth for 1hr until they gave me $7500. I had no clue a discontinued car in good condition has such low trade in value.

So far the Impala seems pretty decent for a basic full size car.

Glad you like it! We ended up getting a 2013 Taurus SEL a couple months ago.
