Ok, talk me out of it. Why shouldn't I get a Five Hundred, other than the vanilla styling I can't come up with a great reason

Its a decent car, no reason to NOT buy one. Just dont test-drive other makes and models, youll dissaude yourself easily.

its based on the volvo s80 platform, which was at the time of arrival a great platform (but that was 10 years ago now). the mistakenly renamed current taurus is really a mid-model refresh of the five hundred which has a much better engine among other things.

The FOrd 500 rent for a Utah trip from LV to Bryce / Zion great car would rent it again
I'm a every day pick up tuck guy , good power good on gas .

Quality problems might still be around with Ford cars.
The 500 name has been dropped and now its called Taurus.

Many people buy on looks alone, and this one is average at best

Exactly.

A friend of mine has one. I must say it is a pretty decent ride, but personally, I am very skeptical of Ford cars (with the exception of the mustang).

Traded in my wifes corrolla for the 500, 30000 miles later she still loves it, great car. Only in the shop for routine maintance, great fuel milage and comfort.
