The new Ranger will be on a cheaper platform than before so we'll see where the prices come in. But I agree with you there needs to be a reasonable pricing gap between the Ranger and F150.
if they can do that, and i would say add a diesel version, then they would have something. personally i like the ranger from 1983-2012. they were a neat little pick up.

I'd be surprised if they go diesel. They cost so much more to build now with all the aftertreatment exhaust systems, not to mention you need packaging space for all that aftertreatment equipment as well, I just don't see how you can make any money with that. The upcharge for diesel they can get from customers would not come anywhere near the added parts cost Ford has to pay for that equipment.

But hey, they do make it in diesel for other markets so who knows. This is basically the Ranger program that we'll get:

yeah, you may as well buy an F150 since that ranger is so close in size.

Likely similar, but definitely not looking like this one. It will be 8 years old (at least, if the union agreement date holds) by the time it's put into production, so my guess is it will look fairly drastically different by then.

Yes, it'll be an updated version but on that T6 platform. Unless something changed at the last minute it won't look too much different than that. After all, nobody in this country has seen that version before, anyway, so it'll look new to everyone here.

I prefer column shift so I can slide across the seats and use the other door on busy streets and crowded parking lots. I can still get over a center console with some work, but many people can't due to age or girth. If a door is jammed shut in a crash, that center console could be a death trap.

If I ever park anywhere where I need to jump over the shifter to exit the car...I'm moving to a different parking spot.
