Actually, I did go from a Honda to a Ford Fusion, and I knew it was a reskinned Mazda. That was the only way I was ever going to buy an American-branded vehicle.
You do know it was the other way around right? The 6 was a rebadged Ford.
Well, Einstein, why don't you take a stab at telling me how much more that vehicle would cost you if it were 100% manufactured in the USA? We generally have lazy workers who expect far too high a wage for far too little work. It's no wonder companies take their manufacturing business outside. *shrug*
You don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.
I'd love to see how some of the UAW members that use this site feel about this very patriotic state of mind???
The biggest problem with Ford is that they dont offer enough of their European models here. Im convinced that they would be a hit, they have a lot of neat stuff over there that they strangely hide from the AMERICAN public.
Ford, are you listening?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Yeah! I was at a dirt bike race this last weekend. Most of the teams used Sprinter vans to get around in. We were all lamenting the fact that Ford doesn't offer their Transit van here. Plus we want these vans (both Transits and Sprinters) with MANUAL transmissions!!!!!!!!
From everything I have read, the Fusion is based on the Mazda 6 (Plus the 6 came out before the Fusion). my favorite Ford commercial is the one where the guy says he came out of a BMW and got a Ford Edge. Yeah, maybe if he was heading to bankrupcy court.

I've come to find out why that is. The product cycle for many of their European products is so short that by the time they would get them federalized for the U.S. market, they're about ready to release a new version of it in Europe. That's why there's often a one to two-year lag between when a European refresh hits the market and when they arrive here, and for some models they just can't make the business case at all for going through the expense and time lag of re-federalizing a new platform every couple of years.
No I didn't. You just didn't grok my sense of humor.
I assumed nothing, see my comment re humor.

You tell us, since the Fusion is based on the Mazda6 platform which is built in... Michigan. My wife's Mazda6 was priced at just under $21K new in 2003, with 2 option packages. Einstein.
