That's what I thought as well when I read the OP post. 400 HP? HAHAHA. They aren't muscle cars by any stretch, even in cop form. My 10 year old 4 cylinder Saturn can outrun them.
I have never known an old saturn to go 130mph. Hell... the LT1 Caprice's top out at 145mph. Those big cop cars may not be able to fly around turns but they can barrel down the road pretty damn well. That's all they need to do, radio does the rest of the work.

They're much better runners than that, you're not doing your credibility any favors.
The 2003 Vic Sport I had with the H&P package and 239 horse motor was a strong runner, not a muscle car by any means but it ran well. I raced a Chrysler 300C V-8 and stayed within a length up to about 90-95 where we both shut down. Both the Chrysler driver and I were surprised.
Handled fairly well too. And all day comfortable on road trips. The ultimate anti-Yuppie car and one with formidable virtues. So uncool it's cool, know what i mean?
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. The last crown victoria was rated at 239 horsepower if you ordered the dual exhaust option only. Consider the fat pig it was at 4,000 pounds, it barely broke less than 9 seconds to 60.
"Fat pig?" They weigh less than the new Dodge Challenger!

I hate driving cop-looking cars. Try to make some time and everyone in the passing lane slows down. See a cop, slow down. See a Vette, get out of the way! I'll take the Vette.
You can still buy the Mercury Grand Marquis or the Lincoln Towncar. I believe the Crown Victoria is only sold to fleet now. Fleet owners like these body-on-frame cars because they are tough, easy to fix, cheap to maintain and easier to modify than unibody cars.
That's what it's all about and it makes the car a lot stronger for PITing people.
I use them in evasive and tactical driver training and I can hustle one around a race track pretty quick, but they definitely could use an update.

The Saturn has an RPM limiter device that limits top speed. But really I was thinking 0-60 acceleration not top speed. But I was being facitious anyways, I have a low 13 second Corvette when I want to go fast.
Now - LT1 Caprice. That's a totally different animal. Most of those old ones are being gobbled up by car crafters when the PD's retire them for the engines or a cheap fast car. But a Caprice is defenitly NOT a Crown Vic.
Really, the legend of "souped up cop cars" is just that, a legend. These cars sometimes had upgraded radiators, tranny coolers, maybe oil coolers, maybe some suspension work. Like you said the radio does the rest.
