On the trans pan you will find a nut that is attached to an internal stand pipe, inside this nut you will find a torx plug that needs to be removed, once removed fluid should drip out indicating that fluid is at the top of the stand-pipe indicating full. You could also be hearing a frozen cooling fan clutch,once again noise would go away with belt removal, with engine not running you should be able to manually spin the cooling fan, it shoul spin a few times. great way to troubleshoot, thank you! belt off, no whine. checked each component on the belt, idler pulley was frozen up. really appreciate the tip.
