I'm in the process of buying a short sale. Offer accepted and this is 2nd wk into the waiting game (SS application submitted into the bank - done by seller's attorney).

Wondering if anyone heard of Lendia. Apparently that's the seller's mortgage holder. A quick google shows it was a mortgage lender based in Worcester MA but was sold to Virgin Money USA in 2008. Love to hear if anyone had experience with this Lendia company and whether smaller lenders handle things more or less quickly.

I did a search and found the following:

2008 Lendia (a wholesale mortgage broker) was sold to Virgin Money (the UK based company owned by Richard Branson).
2010 VM decided to exit the business in the US and sold that division back to its founder who renamed it Clearpoint, based in Marlbourough MA
2011 Gleacher (a publicly traded company) acquired Clearpoint. In Jan 2011, the capital division relocated from Marlbourough MA to New York City.

It's like musical chairs..... I don't know if this is good or bad for me as a buyer on a short sale waiting for them to get to the short sale application!!
