Default Nightlife for older people

Any places to go in Fort Collins that attract either an older crowd (40's and 50's), or a mixed age crowd? I do not want to go to a bar that caters primarily to college kids. I like live music. I also like a bar that is kind of mellow, where one can go and enjoy drinks and conversation.

I would try the Crown Pub. Also Island Grille in the south of town.

I second the Crown Pub. We liked to go there while in college because of the jazz, but there's far more of a mix crowd than just college kids. I also think Coopersmith's had a good mixed crowd.

Jay's Bistro has live music and is more upscale.

I was going to suggest Coopersmiths but didn't think it had much of a bar, and now I'm just remembering that it has the whole Poolside hall, of course. Good choice, and good food (pretty English pub fare). Also great outdoor space in the summer. They also actually brew their own root beer and cream soda (Walrus ice cream actually uses their for floats).

I have always felt that someone could get rich filling this void. There are some ( listed above), but the town could really use some more variety. Crown is great, but music and conversation is a bit off. I think there are a lot of us 40+ who would love some more options.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am glad that I am not alone in thinking the nightlife choices are somewhat limited. If only I were in my 20s again . . . . . .

I'm no expert in 40+ category, but my husband and I are beer lovers so we frequent The Mayor of Fort Collins off of Mason and Laurel. The wait staff there is phenomenal and the beers are tasty. There is a mix of middle ages and younger but definitely not the typical college crowd.

I agree the mayor is great. Its really classy inside and has a nice mellow quiet vibe. can't go wrong with 100 taps ether.
