I'm a single mom exploring a move to the Fort Collins area. I need input on the local school district in regards to Middle and High Schools. One of my children currently plays high school lacrosse and wants to know if the local high school/s offer a decent lacrosse program. My other child is involved in art and music programs. In addition to the extra-curricular activities I would like to know about the school ratings.
Where is the best place to look for renting a home until we settle in and decide on a neighborhood that really suits our family.

My kids attended Dunn Elementary, Lincoln Middle and they're currently at Poudre high school. We live in Old Town and these are our neighborhood schools. We have had excellent experiences in all three schools. But you can live in one part of town and send your kids to another part of town if you want to. Throughout the state of Colorado there's a Choice system that lets parents send their kids anywhere they want as long as there's space in the school.

I don't know about lacrosse teams. I've never heard of any of the school having lacrosse teams, but up until last week I didn't know my kids' school had a hockey team, so what do I know? It looks like there's a city program - Fort Collins Vipers Lacrosse

The school that's best known for art and music is Rocky Mountain High School. We attend their Holiday Stocking concert every December and it's really fantastic. If you're interested in living near to Rocky, then you'd want to look for housing in the west central part of town.
