We're thinking of moving neat Hatfield Airport, bit we have going children. Can anyone give me an idea of how often and loud traffic is? When do flights begin in the morning & end at night? Thanks!

I am unaware of an airport with that name. We have only a small airport in Fort Collins, that primarily service private flights at random times. They are currently trying to return commercial flights to the area, but haven't yet done so.

I found a Hat Field at 5505 South County Road 7, Fort Collins, CO. Essentially the corner of Kechter and Strauss Cabin Rds. Found it via a google map search. It's a tiny air strip that doesn't look like it's used much, except maybe for crop dusting.

To find it, go to google maps and search on airports near fort collins, co and it will be D

Thanks Mike. I know that airstrip. As far as I know, that was a farmer's hobby airstrip for a small home built airplane. It is a strip of asphalt about 8'-10' wide and I've never seen it used. The property on which it sits is currently for sale and I would suspect that field will have homes built on it within a year or two.

AOPA Airports: Hat-Field (6CO4)

FAA show 3 planes "Registered" using the airport as its HomeBase (Airport owner self reports that)

Personal I would look more for where the house is in relationship to the FNL Pattern ( Ft. Collins-Loveland airport) then 6C04 .. But then I like Airplane over my house...

Ditto my thoughts when looking at the sea of homes washing over the adjacent land.

When I saw the satellite image my first thought was some guy likes to fly ultra-light aircraft or maybe crop dusters.

IMO the OP has absolutely nothing to worry about IRT airplane noise. Of course, it could be a super-secret CIA drone base.

This will totally depend on the OP and their noise tolerance. The truck (tire) noise from I-25 is gonna be the problem with this location. There is a pretty active private strip nearby and to the east. (at Walker Manufacturing).

Aircraft noise can be a rough neighborhood issue. I have sold a few private airstrips, and have 3 within 5 miles of my home. I am in the region of one of the most prolific drone manufacturers (Insitu) and inventors / hobbyists. Our county and federally restricted lands use aerial surveillance and image recognition for code enforcement and illegal growing by mass producers.

The aircraft noise doesn't bother me (much), but the snowmobile engines for Ultra lights, and some Drone engines can be a real irritation to many (Neighbor lady goes POSTAL, and wants to shoot them down). There are a few Commercial and ANG pilots living nearby and they spend a lot of their free time flying, and they have a lot of free time!

Hat-Field 6CO4 airstrip is only 610' long x 12' wide. There are very few certificated aircraft that can operate off of such a short/narrow strip at this altitude. Essentially, there will be no visiting traffic at this airstrip, it's primary use is the personal aircraft of John Hatfield. Most likely very little impact of aircraft noise upon the surrounding area.

Walker Manufacturing airstrip 65CO is a private very low use turf airstrip by the owners and not used by transient pilots who would go to KFNL for Fort Collins or an enroute stop. The inbound/outbound traffic count is miniscule; there's no training ops or high volume of GA traffic at this strip. There's even fewer ops in winter months when they cannot maintain the runway. Walker bases 3 aircraft here, all smaller aircraft.

I've flown past these strips many times when I was based at Longmont CO and have never seen or heard any activity at either.

IMO, they're a non-issue for somebody buying a property near Hat-Field.
