On my trip out there with the family, we definitely noticed a smell. It smelled more of animals than fields to me, but it was pretty strong. We sort of assumed that it must always smell like that and that the locals were just use to it. Whether this is better or worse than an equally unpleasant industrial smell? I don't know...I wouldn't live near a refinery either, if I could avoid it, even if it only smelled on "bad" days.

It was actually kind of a bummer for us because we had heard so many good things (that are undoubtedly true) about FC otherwise. I just figured that the price of living away from the "big city" is that it will smell like you it....(sometimes).

That smell would be money, sir. It's funny how money sometimes smells just like cow do do.

IMO, everything along the Front Range from LoneTree to Ft Collins is has terrible air quality, especially on cold winter mornings. I used to live west of Kipling on Ken-Caryl and you could see this nasty brown cloud just below you. I don't miss that.

But, oddly enough, if you're right in the middle of a brown cloud you barely notice it=(

[quote=pbarriero;163951]In all the threads I've read regarding FC, no one has mentioned anything regarding stinky, smelly air due to the agricullture/cattle/livestock in the area. I have heard it from two reliable sources (my adult children who have been there,) that there is definitely an obvious noxious animal smell (think slaughterhouse and manure)

Are they over-reacting or has anyone heard this or experienced this? It could be a deal breaker for me, so please be forthcoming. You guys are such a wealth of good, honest info.
Thank

There is a smell that comes from Loveland (rural areas) as well as Greeley.
Agricultural, manure etc. Certain times of the day and depending on which way the wind is blowing (or high humidity). But its not really a big deal, it can be annoying at first, but you do get used to it.
