Developers plan to build a massive $225 million sports complex in Windsor. Some highlights by the numbers:
» 65 fields
» A 10,000-person capacity “Feature Stadium”
» A “Miracle Field” for children with disabilities
» 5 high school/collegiate fields
» 10 youth fields
» 4 T-ball fields
» 16 tournament baseball fields
» 16 tournament softball fields
» 12 multi-use fields
» 620 total park acres
» 413-acre sports park
» 207 acres for commercial development
» $225 million initial investment
» More than 50 full-time jobs in the first phase
» More than 100,000 annual visitors expected

This is a terrific addition for baseball & softball players and fans in the region. Those behind the project hope to attract a minor league team that will use the 10,000 seat stadium as their home park.

I wonder how much more the COL and taxes will go up. These things never go up without the cost side-effects. I personally love baseball, but don't get the impression that it will go over as big as they seem to be talking about.

They're trying to build something like this on 60 acres in COLO SPGS but as usual there's no funding in COLO SPGS for much of anything.

I like the idea, the nation is still growing, Colorado has a lot offer, and I'd like to see baseball return to prominence since football is fraught with injuries.

The articles on this place near Windsor don't talk about the finances. But finances are what I'd like to know more about; as they said during the Watergate investigation, "follow the money."

Great points Mike. It's easy to talk about plans and such, but until the funding is all in place, it's really just talk. This will only be news and something to celebrate if and when it starts to have feasibility and reality to it.
